Guidelines for Counting Professional Development for Hours in The Ann Arbor Public Schools


1.  Does your planned professional development serve the purpose of increasing student learning?

2.  Does your planned professional development align with your school improvement plan?

3.  Is your professional development planned, ongoing, and intensive?

4.  Does the district support this activity in some way, such as release time or cost?

5.  Professional development that is being counted for the annual district PD hours may only occur when students are not receiving instruction.

To Qualify as 4 Hours District PD at Secondary and 7 Hours District PD at Elementary as Part of 34 District Hours
To Qualify as PD for Probationary Teachers for 90 Hour Additional Requirement
